Factor: Personal Development

The focus here is on the development of financial professionals, as is apparent from the characteristics of this third HPFF factor: in the past year, financial professionals have followed sufficient technical training courses to be able to excel in their position; in the past year, financial professionals have had sufficient personal development training to be able to excel in their position; and financial professionals all have a personal development plan. “Plan” should not necessarily be taken literally here: the point is that the finance function spends time in a structured way on gaining insight into how the financial employee wants and should be developed, and then works on that development in a structured way. Whether this employee development is recorded in a “PDP” (personal development plan) or monitored in some other way is less relevant.
